We estimate that our fees for completing the probate process, including the administration of the estate, will be between 1-2.5% of the gross value of the estate. This estimate includes completing any Inheritance tax forms and applying for probate. We charge at an hourly rate and will only charge for the time spent on the matter even if this is below the estimate provided.

In addition, disbursements will be payable. These are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties such as court fees. We handle the payments of these on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

Disbursements include:

• Probate court fee – £273, any additional copies of the Grant of Probate are charged at £1.50.
• Bankruptcy-only Land Charges Department searches – £2 per beneficiary.
• Post in The London Gazette and a post in a local newspaper – Protects against unexpected claims from unknown creditors or unexpected claims – estimated at £255 plus VAT (this can vary due to the different charges quoted by local newspapers).”
